Acceptance sounded a lot like giving up...

Acceptance?

Absolutely not.

For a long time, acceptance sounded suspiciously like giving up to me.

Accept what happened?

Accept what they did?

Accept that I don't know what's going to happen?

No, thank you.

Surely there was something else I could do.

Another angle.

Another conversation.

Another thing I hadn't tried yet.

Because as long as there was something left to try...

there was still the possibility that maybe I could change it.

What I didn't understand was that acceptance wasn't asking me to give up.

It was asking me to stop fighting reality long enough to see where I still had a choice.

And THAT is a very different thing.
